Hello

Founded by Canena Adams in May of 2014, Women of Worth, Inc. (AKA “WOW”), now known as She’s UP, is a Faith-Based Women’s Empowerment Nonprofit Organization. The organization began as a Sexual Integrity Program and Women's Support Group in Jackson, MI, Canena’s small hometown.

Canena's mission has always been to see women grow into the women they were created to be. Canena lives by the following motto: “It's all about wholeness! A Healthy Mind. A Healthy Body. A Healthy Soul." Canena often shares the testimony of her challenging journey—and how she ultimately found “Success-in-CHRIST,” as well as her decision to "break the cycles" that were holding her back via her desire to make healthier lifestyle choices. Canena is open, honest, and very transparent regarding her experience as a troubled teen, high school drop-out, a teen mother (twice), and her life-changing journey as a teen parent.

Today, Canena wears many hats as she’s a wife of 20-plus years to her business partner and best friend Gregory Adams; she’s a mother of 5 and a mentor to many. Canena has held various leadership positions, which include her current work, Internal Communications Coordinator for the University of Tennessee; and her previous roles as Interim Executive Director of Marriage Matters Jackson, Women’s Chair/President of a Women’s Group (a position she held for over 14 years); Outreach Specialist/Social Worker; and Link Scholars Program Advisor for Spring Arbor University.

Canena is a certified SRA (Sexual Risk Avoidance) Specialist and has utilized her credentials and expertise via public speaking and teaching healthy relationship sessions. She has also hosted and participated in countless community events.

Canena holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and an MA in Communication and Leadership from Spring Arbor University. Canena is also a current student at Liberty University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Communications and Strategic Media.

Canena has taught, keynoted, and facilitated groups and events for faith-based and secular organizations. In addition to her role as Internal Communications Coordinator at the University of Tennessee and Owner of BeYou Branding & Consulting Services, Canena is also an Adjunct Communications Professor. Canena considers herself very versatile in that she is comfortable in one-on-one settings—and she has also stood on larger platforms as the keynote speaker with audiences of 700 or more.

In her “downtime,” Canena enjoys reading, writing, researching health, shopping, eating great food, and spending time with her family and loved ones (as her Marriage/Family is her first Ministry and priority).
